This painting may look like a simple tribute to childhood chocolates but for me, it holds far more than just sweetness and nostalgia. It is a collection of all the chocolates i loved and had once as a kid many of which have long been discontinued. I painted each one by hand, holding on to the memories of simpler and safer times.

In 2019, i travelled to a foreign country for what was meant to be a 6 month internship. Then changed my world. The pandemic hit. Borders closed. I ended up staying for almost a year. People around me passed away. I lost loved one quietly, painfully, from far away. This painting is what kept me sane during that time. The act of painting of remembering became a small way of keeping joy alive when so much of life felt uncertain and lost.

So while it may seem like a tribute to sweet for me its a portrait of survival, of memory and finding small comfort in what once makes us all happy. I hope this brings you the same hope it did for me
