Jolly the Jellyfish

This blue jellyfish painting came to life during a time when I hadn’t picked up a brush in weeks. I was caught in one of those quiet, frustrating stretches staring at blank pages, unsure of what to paint. Out of both hope and hesitation, I asked someone special to me, “Tell me the first thing that comes to your mind.”

Without skipping a beat, they said: “A blue jellyfish.” And so, I painted.

The only motivation to finish this piece was to make it for them because I knew just how happy it would make them.

What began as a small spark to push through art block became something unexpectedly meaningful. Now, almost everything I paint starts with something they think of, and it’s brought a quiet joy back into my process.

This piece holds that memory in its flow and color. I hope it brings a sense of wonder to your space, just as it brought me back to mine
