Menace to Society

A self-portrait exploring the contrast between outward grace and inner chaos. Naked and exposed, she sits perfectly still as flames consume her head, symbolising the turmoil she carries and the pain she has learnt to suppress. A reflection on surviving the storms of the past while holding yourself together in the present.

The Inspiration :)

A Menace to Society

The word of inspiration was “Menace.”

I asked a friend to give me one word that best described me, and turned it into a self-portrait exploring how I see myself. Naked and exposed, she sits with perfect stillness and grace, while a storm of fire consumes her head. She is both vulnerable and defiant, carrying the weight of everything she has endured without letting the world see it.

I know I can be a whirlwind at times, and chaos often seems to follow me. But beneath the stillness lies a mind that refuses to quieten, filled with the echoes of past turmoil and everything I have learnt to suppress. There is a strange kind of strength in sitting gracefully amidst your own destruction, holding yourself together while parts of you slowly fade away.

“Amidst the echoes of past turmoil, she braces against the present storm, even as she slowly fades away. Steadfast, she sits firm.”

Perhaps the menace is not the chaos I create, but everything I have survived and continue to carry in silence.
